Gallstones FAQ

What is the gallbladder?

The gallbladder is a small organ located directly under the liver. It acts as a bile reservoir; it concentrates bile which is secreted by the liver and is used by the body to digest fats.

What causes Gall Stones?

If the liver is overloaded with toxins and saturated fats, the bile (which carries toxins and fats) will eventually inflame the gallbladder. When enough cholesterol deposits (from saturated fats) have formed, they crystallize with the bile to form Gall Stones.

What are the symptoms?

Often, persons with Gall Stones have no symptoms. If the gallbladder becomes inflamed, it can cause sever pain in the upper right abdomen. These symptoms often arise after the individual has eaten fried or fatty foods. If a stone blocks the bile passage however, nausea, vomiting and pain in the upper right abdominal region occur. This condition must be treated immediately as it can be life threatening.

What is the key to protecting yourself from Gall Stones?

According to the peer reviewed medical journal Medical Hypotheses, the key to correcting gallbladder disorders is to stop overloading the liver with toxins and saturated fats. Remember, cholesterol deposits from saturated fats cause Gall Stones, so avoiding saturated fats in your diet is the key. Saturated fats do not exist in the vegetable kingdom. They are only available in meat and dairy foods. Therefore, "vegetarian diets offer protection against Gall Stones." Medical Hypotheses, 40(2), February 1993, p. 81-84

What are the recommendations for treating Gall Stones naturally?

  • In the morning, drink the gallstone flush; 8 oz. Apple juice (or dilute with water), 3-6 cloves of raw organic garlic, 1-2 inches of raw organic ginger root, mix well in blender. This drinkmay help dissolve and flush Gall Stones.
  • Eat a well balanced diet of 50% raw foods and fresh juices, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and nuts/seeds. This low saturated fat, high fiber diet is a must for healing gallbladder disorders. Flaxseed oil is needed for repair and prevention of Gall Stones as it contains essential fatty acids. We have created a complete 7 day detox diet complete with recipes, daily meal plans and a shopping list. Plus, it's FREE. Click Here to get the Gall Stones Detox Diet Plan FREE
  • Increased intake of natural Vitamin C can help with gallbladder ailments. Replenish your vitamin C stores by eating plenty of vitamin C-rich fruits and vegetables on a daily basis. Good sources include peppers (red/green/yellow), oranges, strawberries, lemons, and broccoli.Medical Hypotheses, 40(2), February 1993, p. 81-84
  • Herbal detoxification products may be helpful influshing Gall Stones out of the body. We suggest using formulas that use organic, whole herbs.

  • What should I avoid eating?

    • All Animal Foods: dairy foods (milk, cheese, butter, cream, ice cream), fish, meat, chicken, turkey, eggs, fried and greasy foods, margarine, and all other processed foods and animal derived products from your diet. These foods are laced with chemicals, pesticides, and toxins as well as high levels of saturated fats which cause Gall Stones and inflammation.

The Truth About Carbohydrates - What To Eat, What To Avoid

If you are among the millions of Americans making an effort to eat smarter and live healthier, there is something you should know: carbohydrates are not the enemy. On the contrary, these organic compounds are the main source of energy for the body, which makes them an essential part of every healthy diet.

Along with proteins and fats, carbohydrates are one of the three main nutrients found in foods, and they are often grouped into two main categories—simple and complex. Simple carbohydrates consist of up to three units of sugar linked together. Examples include fruit sugar (fructose), milk sugar (lactose) and table sugar (sucrose). Simple carbohydrates are digested quickly and converted to glucose (blood sugar) immediately by the body. As a result, they can be used for energy soon after they are digested.

Complex carbohydrates include foods such as vegetables, legumes and whole grains that are most often high in fiber, vitamins and minerals. Unlike simple carbohydrates, complex carbohydrates consist of multiple sugar units linked together in chains. Because of their intricate nature, they are digested more slowly. This means that they are broken down into glucose at a gradual pace and thus provide a steady supply of energy for the body. The high fiber content in many complex carbohydrates plays an important role in this process, as fiber helps to slow the conversion of carbohydrates into glucose. It also helps normalize blood glucose levels by slowing down the time it takes food to leave the stomach and delaying the absorption of glucose from a meal.

Although complex carbohydrates are used more efficiently by the body, omitting simple carbohydrates from your diet is not necessarily the answer when you are trying to lose weight and maintain a healthy body weight. As with any weight loss plan, the phrase "everything in moderation" applies here also. When we consume too many carbohydrates—regardless of whether they are simple or complex—the extra calories are stored as fat, which can lead to weight gain and obesity. Try instead to eat an assortment of healthy carbohydrates such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains and beans. Such foods contain an abundance of fiber, as well as antioxidant-rich plant compounds called phytonutrients that may help the body fight disease.

At the market, opt for brown rice instead of white; choose whole grain breads and pastas; and experiment with less familiar grains such as quinoa, teff, millet and bulgur when preparing salads and side dishes. Foods that are best to avoid altogether include cookies, pastries, crackers and other foods that contain high amounts of white flour and refined sugars. These highly processed foods have been stripped of much of their nutrient value.

There Is Hope For Endometriosis Sufferers

Endometriosis was something I had never even heard about until 12 years ago when our first born child was born. Because of complications with the pregnancy my wife had to have our child by cesarean. It was when the Doctor had cut her open that he paused and called every other medical person in the room over and showed them her endometriosis.

He said something along the lines of - Here is a classic example of what endometriosis looks like and that it was one of the worst cases he had seen.

Up until this stage my wife and I didn't even know she had the disease. She had a lot of tests over the years however it never showed up. In fact none of the test we had over the first 10 years of our marriage could shed any light on why we could not have children. You see - for those 10 years my wife just couldn't fall pregnant. Of course now we know why.

This is a story of hope for all women who suffer from endometriosis and desire children. It is true that it can be harder for women to fall pregnant when they have endometriosis however for many it is impossible.

We found ourselves in that impossible position. One year after we were married I was converting to Christianity. I became what is commonly referred to as a born again Christian and was baptized in water by full immersion and received God's Holy Spirit with the Bible evidence of speaking in tongues. This experience totally transformed my life with addictions such as compulsive gambling, nicotine and alcohol totally removed.

Some four and half years later my wife finally experienced the same conversion. We of course heard many Bible sermons and read for ourselves of many times God gave barren women children and we heard many testimonies of others in our modern times also being healed of God and having children.

So our faith was strong and we did earnestly believe we would one day have children. However as the years ticked by and my wife reaching her mid thirties she was under immense pressure realizing that her time was running out. In a Church group you can imagine how it seemed at times a new child was being born almost every week and almost every week in the end my wife would break down and cry and be comforted by other ladies in the Church.

It was eventually decided by the ladies that they would have a rolling prayer and fast. This was where they would take it in turns to go without a meal for an entire day and pray for us.

Low and behold while this was taking place my wife fell pregnant and despite some scares and drama we were blessed with a beautiful boy and of course as stated earlier it was then that we knew she had endometriosis.

The Doctor spoke to us after our son was born and explained the severity of her endometriosis and that how it would only get worse and that he didn't know how she fell pregnant but if wanted more children we should do it fast.

About 6 months later my wife did fall pregnant again however miscarried and was left so distraught that she couldn't face going through something like that again however as time passed by when the Doctors yet again thought it was impossible she fell pregnant again and eventually after more problems during the pregnancy gave birth to twin boys.

So from the impossible to three great kids. Where there is God there is hope. God never took away my wife's endometriosis - at least not as we know of - but He still gave us children.

Of course having never once heard of endometriosis I now hear about it quite often and can even spell it off the top of my head now as well. But because I am now aware of it I have since heard of many other women being prayed for and having children as well.

Some might say it is just co-incidence. After all I think about 60% of women with endometriosis can have children. However we know what God has done. We know that after 10 years and because of our age things were against and we know of the impossibility and others we know faced and we know that it was the power of God through the prayers and love of the brethren that allowed us to have children despite endometriosis.

I hope you have found our story uplifting and to realize that there is hope for endometriosis sufferers.

Oxygen - Can You Have Too Much Of A Good Thing?

    What is oxidative stress?

Oxidative stress, simply put, is the damage made to a cell through the oxidative process. Oxidation, in itself, is a very normal process - it happens all the time to our bodies and many things that surround us. However, when there are disturbances in the natural oxidation process, such as the attraction of a free radical to another molecule in your body, the results are often toxic effects.

Imagine an iron pipe lying on the ground. As it weathers years of rain, environmental exposure, sun, and other factors, it begins to rust. The rust is caused by oxidation. Free oxygen radicals are created during the metabolism of normal oxygen cells, or oxidation. These free radicals are missing a simple electron and are in search of another molecule that they can combine with to become "whole." In their quest, they fire charges that damage other cells and structures around them. This, in turn, causes the rust.

In effect, your body is "rusting" as it goes through its lifetime, the free oxygen radicals wildly running through your system, searching for a mate. As you can see, the more free radicals your body contains, the more damage that's likely to be done. The best way to see this damage is through our normal aging process.

    Oxidative Stress and Aging

While modern medicine has found ways for humans to live longer, our quality of life - especially during the last 30 years - has gone down. Much of this can be attributed to oxidative stress and the toxins that we're encountering more and more throughout our lives.

A simple way to visually experience the effects of oxidative stress on aging is to visit a nursing home. Compare the skin of a five-year-old to that of a resident, and notice the breakdown, wrinkles, and color as compared to the smooth, supple skin of a child. Throughout our lives, our skin encounters free radicals in many different forms, and their effect is clearly obvious on our skin.

But oxidative stress isn't only apparent on the outside. It's the cause of many or most diseases our society is concerned with today.

    Oxidative Stress and Disease

To date, science has discovered that oxidative stress may very well be the cause of over 70 well-known, widely-spread diseases. Depending on what form of toxin or stress your body is exposed to on an ongoing basis, you could find yourself suffering, even at an early age, from diseases that could be prevented if only you'd have minimized the harmful free radicals in your system.

Here are just some of the diseases are caused by oxidative stress:

    • Heart Disease

    • Cancer

    • Arthritis

    • Lung Disease

    • Fibromyalgia

    • Diabetes

    • Neurodegenerative Diseases like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's

    • Autoimmune Diseases

    • Eye Diseases like Macular Degeneration

    A Look at Free Radicals

Obviously, even back in the early days of man, free radicals existed and caused oxidative stress. They're inherent to life and a normal byproduct of regular oxygen molecule metabolism. However, our bodies were only made to withstand so much exposure to free radicals (even though our body does an amazing job at neutralizing them in a normal, low-toxin setting). And the increased and prolonged exposure to these wild and reckless free radicals cause a faster build-up of "rust" or disease in our bodies.

So what are some of the most common reasons our bodies' oxygen molecules oxidize themselves into an increased amount of free radicals? Some of them you're probably well aware of, and some of them may come as a surprise.

    • Environmental and Air Pollution

    • Cigarette Smoking

    • Excess Stress

    • Prescription and Over-the-Counter Medications

    • Radiation

    • Excessive Exercise

    • Increased Exposure to Sunlight

    The Heroic Role of Antioxidants

The key ingredient, by far, to reducing the amount of free radicals in your system is antioxidants. Antioxidants are fantastic little substances that wander through your body, giving up an electron to the greedy free radicals charging through your system. They neutralize the free radicals and allow your body to do its business of excreting them safely and without harm.

Our bodies already make several different types of antioxidants all on their own. But as our exposure to harmful free radicals in the environment and through our lifestyles increase, our need for outside supplies of antioxidants is vital in the war against aging and degenerative disease.

While a good supply of antioxidants come from natural sources like healthy food, we also need to supplement those sources. Increasingly, our food supply is being degraded through harmful growing practices and soil depletion, and can no longer be relied upon to protect us from the oxidative stress all around us.

With a healthy supply of free-radical-neutralizing antioxidants, you can see how our bodies are better able to withstand and ward off the "rusting" for decades longer than we currently do.

Using Color To Achieve Optimum Nutrition

With more and more research being done on the effect of nutrition on overall health and longevity, increased attention has been given to the importance of planning healthy meals at home. Research has shown that optimum nutrition is achieved through the eating of a variety of natural foods that are packed with vitamins and minerals.

In an effort to reach optimum nutrition it is important to make a commitment to focusing on particular food groups. Experts agree that color is the key when filling up your plate with food. Fresh fruits and vegetables – part of optimum nutrition – come in all shades of beautiful colors; the deep orange of a blood orange, the red of an apple or strawberry, the intense blue of a blueberry. Fresh vegetables are best served green; green, leafy vegetables such as spinach, kale, and broccoli.

When it comes to carbohydrates, color is still vital to achieving optimum nutrition. Sweet potatoes are more nutritious than white potatoes; wheat pasta is a better choice than white pasta; brown rice beats white rice, and dark whole grain bread is far better than processed white bread.

The combination of these healthy choices along with lean proteins, low-fat dairy products, and at least eight glasses of water a day will go a long way to achieving optimum nutrition. Of course, part of this commitment is the minimizing – if not altogether elimination – of foods that are fried, processed, and contain high levels of sugar, salt, and saturated fat.

Ultimately, if you are you going about achieving optimum nutrition the right way, your plate should reflect a variety of beautiful colors; foods that hold an enormous amount of vitamins and minerals. Make a game out of if by choosing foods that are a part of this nutritious rainbow. The most important thing is to implement this lifestyle within the home, giving your family the tools it needs to stay healthy for a lifetime. Work as a team to find new and exciting recipes that showcase seasonal foods and pack nutrition and taste into every bite.

Optimum nutrition is within all of our grasps; it starts with a commitment to a lifestyle. It's a lifestyle that makes the most of the natural food products available to us and, ultimately, it is a lifestyle that can greatly benefit you and your family – giving you long years of health.

Fiber Foods Can Do Miracle in Natural Weight Loss

In a report, it has been found that consumption of fiber foods works very well in natural weight loss. Actually fibers do not get digested by the human digestive system and it passes out from the colons taking all the waste material with it. It provides bulk and softens the stools thereby helping in regular bowel movements and avoiding constipation. In the intestine, fiber produces a gel which binds the bile acids and this leads the lever to convert cholesterol into bile thereby reducing cholesterol levels.

You will be surprised to know that diseases like obesity, diabetes, colon diseases etc. are minimal in countries where the population has a regular dose of fiber in their diet. Fibers are excellent means to have a healthy digestive system. Fiber makes people feel less hungry on account of its bulk and reduces appetite resulting in natural weight loss. It also helps the body in controlling blood sugar.

The ancient ayurvedic medicine system recommends consumption of fiber rich vegetables in large quantities to get rid of all the toxins from your body. Removal of toxins automatically ensures removal of excess fat from your body.

Foods that are highly rich in fibers are oat bran, corn bran, rice bran and wheat bran. Foods with medium fiber contents are whole grains, whole wheat pasta, whole wheat flour, oatmeal-rolled oats, steel cut oats, wheat-oat flour, corn meal and brown rice.

Foods that are low in fiber and that needs to be avoided are white flour (bleached or unbleached), pasta, cream of wheat, oat flour, corn starch, white rice. One important aspect of fiber and weight loss is drinking lots of water. Water makes the fiber swell and work better.

The FDA Seeks to Make You a Felon

It is a proven fact that "Vitamin C Complex" cures and prevents a horrible disease known as Scurvy. A Nobel Prize was awarded in 1937 to Dr. Albert Szent-Gyorgyi who isolated the "Vitamin C Complex" and proved its link with Scurvy.

Through the latest attempts by the FDA to overturn the unanimous passage of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994, they intend to make it a felony for you to tell another person about this fact regarding Vitamin C.

By sharing education and the links between nutrition and better health, they seek to make you a felon.

The American Medical Association, through an article published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, stated that it is clear Americans are not getting sufficient nutrient support from diet alone. Their conclusion was that Americans should consider dietary supplements to ensure sufficient nutritional support.

The FDA seeks to make it illegal for me to educate you about that fact.

The FDA is seeking to protect the interests of drug companies who administer poisons and have no financial interest in people like you helping another American Citizen, through education, to improve their state of health. This may result in their doctors taking them off of so-called maintenance drugs which they were intended to stay on for life.

Their doctors take them off these drugs because their improved state of health eliminates their requirement for them.

With the sickness industry counting for nearly 1/5 of the GDP, healthy Americans are bad for drug company business. I say too bad and ask you, to represent the true benefits and needs of the People and remain vigilant to the attempts of the FDA to eliminate access to safe and effective dietary supplements in the name of protecting drug company interests.

Drug studies are no long conducted against a current known treatment to ensure that a new drug is more effective. Instead drug companies have created a smoke screen by making the public think that studies against placebos are better science and better for you.

As a result, newer and more expensive drugs replace cheaper, existing drugs which are as effective and, according to articles published in the New England Journal of Medicine, sometimes more effective than the newer, more expensive alternative.

This is the status quo the FDA seeks to maintain.

From the proposed new laws from the FDA, if you even told someone not to eat fast food because it's "junk food" or that extensive research has proven that Aspartame metabolizes to formaldehyde in your liver, you would be committing a felony as an unlicensed medical practitioner.

The passage of DSHEA was correct. The FDA should seek to ensure that dietary supplements are made according to good manufacturing practices. Studies showing the effectiveness of dietary supplements can only be performed on supplements that are made according to such standards. Recent media reports of concerns over the effectiveness of certain types of dietary supplements are based on indirect analysis of unverified dietary supplements and therefore any conclusions based on such data is untrustworthy.

Researchers, backed by drug industry money, know this, but they also know that the average person and the average journalist lack the knowledge to see through the veil.

The FDA supports these studies because they serve an agenda, which keeps you paying for drugs through the products you buy, the checks you earn and the taxes you pay.

The United States pays more than any other country, per capita, to treat sickness and yet the World Health Organization ranks the US 37th in overall wellness in the world. The sickness paradigm is a failure when it comes to anything other than trauma care. A massive money machine, supported by the FDA is what keeps it going.

The FDA should exist to serve We The People.

    They clearly do not.
